Embark on an unforgettable adventure as you conquer one of the world's highest peaks in just 6 days via the Rongai Route. Experience the thrill of reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and discover the joy of pushing your limits in a breathtaking natural setting. Are you ready for the challenge?
Upon your arrival at the airport, we'll meet and have a brief introduction before settling into your accommodation for the night at Chanya Lodge B&B.
We'll hold an important briefing where our team will provide necessary information about our Rongai Route journey and answer any questions you may have. It is a relatively simple route compared to others.
You'll have the opportunity to spot African wildlife such as buffalo, antelopes, and elephants along the way. Although the route is relatively gentle, it's important to acclimatize to avoid any discomfort during the ascent.
Day 1:
We'll begin our journey on the 1st day with a 4-5 hour drive from Moshi to visit the coffee plantation.
Then, we'll arrive at the gates of Kilimanjaro National Park where we'll spend some time waiting for climbing permits to be issued due to the increasing number of people wanting to conquer Kilimanjaro each year. Amaze the breathtaking African landscapes and listen to us share insights about the diverse local flora and fauna.
Our next stop, Simba Camp, is located near the moorland and the first cave, providing another stunning view of Kenya's valleys.
Day 2:
We will wake up feeling cheerful and ready for new challenges, have breakfast, and continue moving through the inhospitable moorland. Don't forget to enjoy the views of Kibo Peak and the beautiful ice fields located on the east side of the crater.
Our path leads us to the Second Cave Camp, where the weather starts to become cooler for the first time.
Day 3:
We'll start the day with a hearty breakfast and make sure to pack all necessary items before continuing our journey through the desert area.
On the 3rd day, we'll encounter beautiful fields that will amaze your senses with their beauty. It's important to monitor your condition carefully and report any symptoms of altitude sickness to me. Spend this night at the Third Cave Camp.
Day 4:
We'll wake up early in the morning, leave the desert zone from the Third Cave Camp, and continue our journey through a predominantly alpine landscape. Our goal is to reach the Kibo Huts by passing through the walls of the crater with the same name.
At this point, our route will intersect with the Marangu Route which we'll take to conquer Uhuru Peak. We strongly recommend that you prepare your equipment in advance, change the batteries in flashlights and cameras. We'll head to bed at 7 pm to rest before the challenging night climb. Overnight at Kibo Huts.
Day 5:
This is the toughest and most crucial day of our ascent. We will begin climbing at midnight, moving between two glaciers before turning northwest towards Stella Point.
We will encounter challenging scree terrain on the edge of the crater where we will rest briefly and witness a breathtaking sunrise. If we are quick, we might even reach the summit to catch the sunrise. Only an hour remains to conquer the mountain as snow blankets the ground and the temperature drops. Congratulations on reaching the highest point in Africa – Uhuru Peak! We will celebrate our achievement and take memorable photos.
Our group will then descend to the Horombo Camp, where the trail is rough and covered with loose gravel and ash, so trekking poles are recommended. This evening marks our final night at high altitude. We will rest and spend the night at the Horombo camp.
Day 6:
We start the day with a satisfying breakfast, followed by a team spirit ceremony before bidding farewell. We will continue our descent, stopping for a brief lunch break at Mandara Huts.
We will then proceed to the Marangu Gate, where you will receive your climbing certificates. The weather will be warmer here, but the road may be dirty and slippery, some careful.
A car will be waiting at the Marangu Gate to transport you to your hotel in Moshi, which is approximately a 45-minute drive away. You will enjoy the comforts of civilization, including a hot shower and dinner.
